(Jerusalem, Dec. 2nd, 2008) – The first online television series ever to be based on current events in Judea and Samaria is to be launched this month. The show, called Hill 769, takes place in an imaginary outpost in the Samarian Mountains and stars actors from Samaria itself. The first three episodes of the series have already been produced and more are on the way.
Jerusalemite Yehezkel Laing, a graduate of the Maaleh Film School and Nissan Nativ Acting School, is the director of the series. “From the deep Biblical and spiritual history of the area to the present day return and struggle to hold on to the land in the face of massive opposition, Yesha provides a virtual goldmine of exciting storytelling. There is so much natural human drama that takes here I am surprised no one thought of it before,” says Laing. “The show intends to be an interesting combination of many genres: drama and action with a heavy dose of humor.”
“I think people are tired of the Hollywood imitations coming out of Tel Aviv and are looking for something more Jewish, more Israeli,” says Laing. “I believe people want culture which connects them to their roots instead of alienates them from them it and that is what we hope to provide. We are excited to bring a new and different voice to the Israeli entertainment scene.” The series will be broadcast on the Arutz Sheva website with a new episode appearing every seven days.
“In light of the increasing media attacks against the residents of Judea and Samaria I think this project is timelier than ever. But all this work requires a lot of money. I hope there are Jewish philanthropists out there who recognize the importance of providing alternative voices in the Israeli media who will lend their resources to forwarding this important project.

I am very much looking forward to this film. Since Adir Zig z.l., Techelet (the Tanach-series), and not to forget Arutz7 radio were all lost to us we are in great need of productions that take the Jewish soul into account.

Heard about your great film(s) but since we live in a rural area (Cape) of South Africa how do we get to see the film? Will it be available on DVD?

Shalom Reinhold,
Thank you very much for your note. I’m sorry about the delayed response. I would love to have showings of 12 Tribe Films arranged in the Cape of South Africa. It can definitely be arranged. All I need is to find out who is whom to speak with regarding arranging public or home screenings and settling the financial aspects.
I very much look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you to bring these great films to the Cape.
